Dad passed quietly at home last night at 8:15pm. Hannah and I had just finished tucking the girls in when I got the call from Mom. It wasn’t expected. I suppose it never is. It all came so fast. Sunday we went down to Mom and Dad’s to sing songs and recite some scriptures we memorized, including one of Dad’s favorite hymns Love One Another. He listened and sang along a little and later we chatted. It was a short visit and the girls all gave him a kiss before we left. When I spoke to Mom on Tuesday Dad was already mostly gone. She had trouble communicating with him. He was sleeping more and when he was awake he was disoriented and confused. We had lunch over at Mom and Dad’s yesterday (Wednesday). Dad slept the whole time. When we left I tugged on Dad’s toes and said goodbye. He didn’t stir at all. |
