As many have noted, it is extremely difficult to find qualified talent in our field in Utah. The market is tight – I believe the last statistic I heard was that unemployment in the field of web development in Utah is less than 1%. (correct if wrong).
With that in mind, I felt it was important for me to do everything in my power to draw as many qualified applicants as possible to my recently posted web designer opening. I approached Cameron Moll about his Authentic Jobs website (http://authenticjobs.com). It costs $250 for a full-time posting, so my bosses wanted to make sure it was money well spent. They thought it might be counterproductive since we don’t pay relocation costs.
Cameron assured me that the church postings that have appeared there pulled local as well as non-local applicants (note: the church does pay relocation costs). Our web designer position can be seen here:
